The line was extending out the door with students excited to get their delicious Italian ice-cream. AMSA members got the opportunity to eat and socialize all while contributing to funds for AMSA. On Thursday, December 1st, 2011, AMSA had a fun social fundraiser at the Gelato Company in downtown Gainesville. According to David Estalilla, AMSA vice president, the money earned went to “future events and our National Convention coming up in the Spring.”
The event was a nice way to spend the evening taking a break from the stress of finals week. It was a fun opportunity to spend time with fellow AMSA members and gain an event point. Pictured to the right is Kareem Issa, sophomore, enjoying his pumpkin pie gelato.
If you could not attend the Gelato Company Fundraiser, there are still more event point opportunities coming very soon. One of them is the Study Fest this Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th at the Reitz Union. AMSA has reserved rooms for studying (room numbers to be announced.) It will be a useful event to go to during finals week because the libraries are usually crowded. There will even be tutoring zone tutors attending! Tutoring Zone tutors for general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry and physics will be there giving reviews as well as free t-shirts and snacks! On both days, the Study Fest will take place from 9:30 AM-11 PM. Check out the facebook page for more information.
You can also test your luck and see if a fortune is in your future at AMSA’s annual casino night at the Woodlands next Wednesday, December 7 from 6-9 p.m.
