Tonight's Meeting...Another Great Speaker!

A fascinating and inspiring presentation, opportunities to help a great cause and awesome prize giveaways all took place at our 4th general body meeting. The meeting was held yesterday in the HPNP Auditorium.

Our keynote speaker was Dr. Mark Bleiweis, M.D. Dr. Bleiweis is a pediatric heart surgeon and a specialist in heart disease. He is pictured to the left with students who rushed to him with questions after his talk. He spoke about his profession, what it entails, the rewards and disadvantages that come with it and some of the amazing surgeries he has performed.

“My path after medical school was 11 years of training…There’s a lot of things you have to sacrifice,” said Dr. Bleiweis about his path to success.

His advice to the AMSA members was, “The most important thing is to find what you love to do. It is work, so do something that keeps you challenged and excited to be there.”

“I love the determination and drive that he has in him. He also inspired me to look into his type of medicine when he mentioned the shortage of females in his area,” says FiHP director Brittany Creary

Our members received an announcement about the dance marathon event. Tytoring Zone experts also came to give away free T-shirts and candy.

The next AMSA meeting will be on November 30th. AMSA members are always in for a great presentation, prizes and much more.
