Although they had never pulled out a win, they had a dream. This past Thursday was different. They had a dream, every member of the University of Florida’s co-ed inter-mural flag football league was created with equal athletic ability. The team was disheartened, because the past Tuesday their arch nemesis The Softball League That Must Not Be Named, put the Avada Kedavra curse on the win for the Sports and Medicine Team. Nicky Cadiz, the president, could not use her time turner (we know she has one- how else does she do so many things at once?) to save the team from execution. The team knew there was almost zero possibility they would win. However, they still showed up complaining about the week's classes and overwhelming amounts of homework. Just like pre-meds can pull an A out of an all nighter, they also pulled a win out of a super tired and slightly uncoordinated team. They showed up, they put on shorts with no pockets and took the win like a baby takes a burp after a fresh warm cup of milk.
"With an 0-4 start to the season, and the coach on the hot seat," said Coach Eduard Reed, "the AMSA football team rose up and said 'enough with this losing stuff!'"
It seemed like the loosing would continue another week as the offense started the game off with an interception. The defense had their back though and forced a turn over on downs. After a methodical march down the field the first scoring driving of the game was capped by Cadiz, "Refrigerator." She punched the ball in from the 1 yard line. From there the AMSlaughter was on as the offense imposed their will upon the other team. The defense preformed well not allowing any points to be scored. The final score was AMSA 32- LitiGators 0.
Sports and Medicine also hosts Tops Soccer on Fridays. Members have the chance to play soccer with autistic children. This really makes an impact in the children's lives. Everyone is welcome.
