This year Empty Bowls will be Friday(November 18th) at the Dorris Community Center from 6-9pm. Empty Bowls is a national movement to help end hunger. ACM will be helping to paint ceramic bowls at the Arts and Crafts center in the Reitz Union that will be sold at the main event. It will cost $10 for students and $15 for the community. The cost will include a hand painted bowl of your choice and then a soup/salad dinner and a dessert with all the proceeds benefiting the charity! The more people who participate in the event the larger it will benefit St. Francis House.
The Arts and Complementary Medicine committee attended UF’s Annual Art Bash Celebration which took place on October 28th. At the event the UF art students showcased their work. This provided inspiration and discussion among the attendants. Committee members of ACM were urged to explore the ways art and related mediums can be used therapeutically for patients. Art Bash inspired project ideas and suggested ways that art can be used to promote health. This week ACM members and all AMSA members are encouraged to attend Empty Bowls on Friday to utilize their inspiration from the Art Bash.
